Part 2 Wellness Wednesday Series
Last week in our Wellness Wednesday series, we talked about how the number on a scale cannot tell the full story of your health. This week we’re looking a little deeper at something equally important.

Many serious health conditions develop quietly
They do not announce themselves, they do not interrupt your day and they do not make you feel sick. They simply continue working in the background of what feels like a perfectly normal life.
That’s why caring for our health isn't only about reacting when something feels wrong. Sometimes it means choosing to check, to get screened, and to stay informed before symptoms appear.
High Blood Pressure
One of the most well-known examples of a silent condition is high blood pressure. High blood pressure has been called “the silent killer” for a very long time, and it has earned that name.
You won’t feel it building in your arteries.
You won’t feel it straining your heart.
You won’t feel it laying the groundwork for a stroke that may come years later.
It simply does its damage quietly, day after day. Nearly half of adults in the United States have high blood pressure, and many of them do not know it.
The truth is, it's very simple to check. It takes less than a minute and those numbers can tell you more about your heart’s future than almost anything else. But people go years without knowing them.
Blood Sugar and Pre-diabetes
Blood Pressure isn't the only condition that can develop quietly. Changes in blood sugar often follow a similiar pattern.
Prediabetes and early type 2 diabetes also often develops without any noticeable symptoms. Most people may feel a little more tired than usual or a little thirstier but these changes are easily dismissed for something else. Meanwhile, elevated blood sugar can slowly begin affecting the small blood vessels that supply the kidneys, eyes, and nerves.
What makes this particularly important is that prediabetes is often reversible. When it’s identified early, many people are able to bring their blood sugar back into a healthy range through changes in nutrition, movement, and lifestyle. That opportunity depends on knowing your numbers.
Your Liver
The liver is one of the most hardworking organs in the body.
It filters toxins.
Helps digest food.
Stores energy.
Produces essential proteins.
But it has no pain receptors. That means when the liver is inflamed or when fat begins accumulating in its tissue, you may feel absolutely nothing.
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, which is linked more to metabolic health than alcohol, now affects roughly one in four people globally, and most have no idea. The first sign might only appear during routine bloodwork or imaging done for something else unrelated.
Glaucoma
You can lose a significant portion of your vision before realizing anything has changed. Glaucoma damages the optic nerve, often through increased pressure inside the eye. The loss begins at the edges of vision , in your peripheral field and happens gradually.
The brain is able to compensate so well that many people do not notice the change until a large portion of vision is already gone. Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of irreversible blindness worldwide, and can detected during a simple routine eye exam.
Colorectal Cancer
Colorectal cancer is one of the most preventable cancers and one of the quietest. Most begin as small growths called polyps in the colon. These polyps can take 10 to 15 years to develop into something serious. That's Ten to fifteen years with no symptoms.....No pain..... and No warning.
However a colonoscopy can detect and remove these polyps before they ever become cancer. There are few medical screenings that offer that kind of opportunity for prevention.
The Truth About Silent Disease
The truth about many silent diseases is that they don’t arrive suddenly, they develop quietly over years, giving us time to find them early.
The Question Worth Asking Yourself
When was the last time you had bloodwork done, not because you were sick, but simply to check your health?
When was the last time you checked your blood pressure?
Had your eyes examined?
Completed recommended screenings for your age?
Feeling well is a blessing but hopefully we've been able to show that it’s not always the full picture. Sometimes caring for our health means looking a little deeper than how we feel and getting routine check ups and labwork done.
The conditions we’ve talked about today are not rare.... They are common..... They are quiet. And in many cases, they are manageable when caught early. The only way to catch something early is to look for it before symptoms appear.
At EBLUXE CARES, we believe prevention begins with awareness and understanding how the body works, paying attention to the signals it sends, and taking small steps to support long-term health.
Next week in Part 3 of our series, we’ll explore some of the health numbers that can reveal what’s really happening inside the body. The numbers that often matter more than we realize. When it comes to wellness, knowledge is one of the most powerful tools we have.
With Love,
